25 days. Raphanus sativus. Open Pollinated. Long Scarlet Cincinnati Radish. This early maturing plant produces heavy yields of 6" long x ¾” wide pinkish red radishes and white flesh. The radishes look like carrots and are tender, crisp, and mild. It is known for having a much milder bite than most radishes. Perfect for salads, vegetable platters, gourmet dishes, dips, and garnishes. The flesh is crisp, mild, and flavorful. Very easy to grow. It can be grown for spring to fall harvest. To extend the season, plant at one week intervals until late summer for a fall crop. Also known as Cincinnati Market Radish. An excellent choice for home gardens and specialty market growers. An 1800s heirloom variety from the USA.

Radish Seed Planting Information:

Plant seeds outdoors directly in the garden as soon as the soil can be worked. Radish roots do not grow well in hot summer, so plant early spring or in the fall. Plant successive plantings every few weeks to have a steady supply of radishes. Plant 3 - 4 weeks before last frost in spring, and 6 weeks before first frost in fall. Plants are 2" to 6" tall.

Soil Requirements:

Requires loose fertile soil in a well drained location in the garden. Apply much and grass clippings, or straw around base of plant.

Water Requirements:

Keep soil uniformly moist and from drying out.

Fertilizer Requirements:

Use RootBlast, Vegetable Alive, and Slow Release Fertilizer when transplanting outdoors. Periodically apply Miracle Gro.

Harvest Tips:

Dig or pull roots when they are mature. If left in ground too long, they will crack and taste bitter.
