The flesh is very tender, mild, and sweet. Ideal for boiling, pickling, baking, and freezing. The greens are edible and tasty. Also known as Candy Stripe Beet, Candy Cane Beet, or Bull’s Eye Beet. An excellent choice for home gardens and specialty markets. An heirloom variety was introduced to the United States in the 1840s from the historic fishing town of Chioggia, Italy.
