Grew two San Marzano Redorta Tomato plants this season from Reimer's. They are doing good in East Tennessee where it is hot and humid. Picking them green doesn't change the taste...they do get green on the shoulders with a red body on the vine and when it ripens the green shoulder stays green and becomes leathery. My San Marzano Redorta Tomato had thick skin in some spots and the size of them grew from 2-5.5 inches long to 1.5-3.5 inches wide. Taste was mild. Grew regular San Marzano's last year, and they were 1/4 of the size of the San Marzano Redorta Tomato but way tastier.
