140 days. Gossypium hirsutum. Open Pollinated. Arkansas Green Cotton. The plant produces good yields of green-tinted cotton. The color of the cotton is light green to dull olive green. The plant has pink and white flowers which makes it a very attractive plant against reddish-green foliage. Naturally colored cotton is now very rare. Prior to the Civil War, green, blue, yellow, and pink-colored cotton was grown by slaves. An excellent choice for home gardens. An heirloom variety from Arkansas. United States Department of Agriculture, PI 528420.

Cotton Seed Planting Information:

One of the easiest specialty plants to grow. Kids will love growing them. Cotton does best in warm weather regions. For school projects, plant your seeds indoors 4 to 6 weeks before setting in garden. When seedlings are 4" to 6" tall, transplant them into larger pots so roots can grow properly. Plant directly in the garden in spring when night time temperature are above 50 degrees. Plants can grow 4 ft tall.

Soil Requirements:

Requires rich fertile soil in a well drained location in the garden. Apply much and grass clippings, or straw around base of plant.

Water Requirements:

Water during dry and hot spells.

Fertilizer Requirements:

Use RootBlast, Vegetable Alive, and Slow Release Fertilizer when transplanting outdoors. Periodically apply Miracle Gro.

Harvest Tips:

Hand remove cotton from plant when cotton pods opens.

This is a beautiful cotton with a gorgeous green coloration.  It was easy to grow even in southern Missouri and matured quickly.

It has a deeper green than the other green cotton offered by this company but the lint is shorter.  An additional benefit to this cotton is that it produced more heavily.

As a spinner, I am thrilled to be able to grow this wonderful colored cotton!

Reimer Seeds sent the seeds quickly and are excellent!

Thank you Reimer for making these seeds available.
