Blue Tomato

OSU Blue Tomato Seeds

OSU Blue Tomato Seeds

TM929-5
85 days. Solanum lycopersicum. Open Pollinated. OSU Blue Tomato. The plant produces high yields of 2 to 4" distinctive blue/purple-black skin color tomatoes. It is a popular tomato variety prized for its distinctive color and pleasant, sweet tomato taste: some growers note it improves when fully ripe. This was the first blue-pigmented tomato. It is blue on the outside, has pinkish-red flesh, and contains the same antioxidant found in blueberries. They are very sweet and are perfect for salads, sandwiches, snacks, gourmet dishes, and vegetable platters. An excellent choice for home gardens. Dr. Jim Myers at Oregon State University developed this variety by cross-pollinating a regular red tomato with a blue-pigmented wild tomato from the Galapagos. Excellent choice for home gardens. A variety from the USA. Indeterminate.
