Celery Seed Planting Information: Celery does not like hot weather and will grow best if started indoors. Plant your seeds indoors, 10 to 12 weeks before setting outside. Transplant them in the garden when plants are at least 6" tall and when soil temperature is above 55 F. Harden off before planting in the garden. Prepare garden soil before transplanting outdoors. Spring planting should occur as soon as soil can be worked. You can begin harvesting the stalks anytime after the plant has leaves. You can cut the stalks at ground level and leave roots in ground for compost. Cover plants with mulch when temperatures fall below freezing. Plants can grow 1 - 2 ft tall. |
