Parsnip Seed Planting Information: Parsnips originated from Europe. They are a member of the carrot family and grow similar to carrots. Parsnips are one of the hardest to grow root vegetables, but are worth the trouble because of their flavor and storage capability. Plant seeds directly in the garden where soil is finely tilled. Planting should immediately after last frost. Parsnip can not take the mid-summer climate, so plant early spring of in the fall. Roots will grow 18" to 36". The deeper the soil is tilled, the longer the roots will develop. Plants grow 6 - 12" tall. |
