Broccoli Seed Planting Information:

Broccoli does best when temperatures remain between 40 F and 70 F during the growing period. Temperatures below 25 F can damage or kill broccoli. Spring planting should occur as soon as soil can be worked and after last frost, and fall planting done 10 to 12 weeks before first frost. In most areas broccoli grows best if planted in late summer so it can mature during cool periods. Plants can grow 2 ft tall.

Soil Requirements:

Requires fertile soil with plenty of nitrogen and calcium with some lime. Apply much and grass clippings, or straw around base of plant.

Water Requirements:

Keep well watered or plant will have premature heading and flowering.

Fertilizer Requirements:

Use RootBlast, Vegetable Alive, and Slow Release Fertilizer when transplanting outdoors. Periodically apply Miracle Gro.

Harvest Tips:

When you begin to see the buds spread out, it is time to harvest. Cut heads with sharp knife.

An excellent broccoli. I had excellent production and it is my second favorite broccoli. The only better variety to grow is green goliath

Excellent! A very prolific Brocolli, I was impressed by the huge number of sideshoots over a period of several months. Some sideshoots were as large as some smaller heads found in commercial markets.

I puchased a six pak but will grow next seasons plants from purchased seed as I prefer to do. It did very well in our coastal San Diego, Ca. climate zone.

First time growing broccoli in South NJ.  Started inside Mid March and planted in April.  Plants took off when it warmed up a bit in May.  Plants are in excess of 2 ft. healthy and have produced heads 7-9inches thusfar.  Very tasty...going to try for a fall crop so I can avoid buying it from the store. First timer here and had success.  Go for it.
