I grew these outside in hydro buckets in the hot, humid climate of SC. They produced a decent amount of fruits with a good taste. The skins were thick but I contribute that to the hot temps. There was some skin splitting but not much. I picked the last red tomato and the remaining green ones on November 29th, frost killed the plants the next day. I stored the green ones in single layers in cardboard boxes in garage to ripen and had the last red tomatoes for Christmas. I will definitely grow this variety again.

The flavor of these is good, but my one complaint is the skin is thicker and more stout than other tomatoes. I bet it would store and ship well (without bruising), but it makes the texture harder when eating them. Contrast that with the velvety softness of a beefsteak and this variety will leave something to be desired. I’ll say this though.... these are the most beautiful looking tomato plants I’ve ever seen: tall, stately, and very easy to grow too.
