Fragaria vesca. Open Pollinated. White Solemacher Strawberry. The plant produces excellent yields of white strawberries. It is the largest white strawberry. It has a rich strawberry flavor with a hint of pineapple flavor. These Alpine strawberries don't have runners, so they are perfect for containers, window boxes, and patio gardening. The birds don't seem to know that the white fruit is ripe and don't bother them. It is a day neutral variety, which means it is not dependent on day length for flowering. Also known as Weiss Solemacher Strawberry. Kids love them. Suitable for containers, patios, window boxes, rock gardens, and edging plants. An excellent choice for home gardens. United States Department of Agriculture, PI 552283. A heirloom variety from Germany.
