Cabbage Planting Information:

Cabbage grows best when daytime temperatures are under 80°F. High fertility, improper water conditions, and heat can cause loose, puffy heads. Spring planting should occur as soon as soil can be worked, 3 to 5 weeks before the last frost, and fall planting done around June or July. Plants can grow 6 to 12" tall.

Soil Requirements:

Requires fertile soil in a well-drained location in the garden. Apply mulch, grass clippings, or straw around the base of the plant.

Water Requirements:

Maintain consistent moisture to prevent heads from cracking. Water on the sides of the plant and avoid wetting any part of the plant.

Fertilizer Requirements:

Use Slow Release (6 Month) Fertilizer when transplanting outdoors. Apply Miracle-Gro Liquid Fertilizer every two weeks.

Harvest Tips:

Cut heads with a sharp knife at ground level.
