65 days. Capsicum annuum. Open Pollinated. Pepperoncino Pepper. This early maturing plant produces high yields of 5 ½" long by ¾" wide hot peppers. Peppers are mildly hot, have medium thick flesh, and turn from yellowish-green to red when mature. The plant has green stems, green leaves, and white flowers. Usually harvested when green and pickled. Excellent for Italian cuisine and for pickling. Also known as Golden Greek Pepperoncino. United States Department of Agriculture, USDA PI 603810. A variety from Milan, Italy.

Hot Pepper Seed Planting Information:

Some hot pepper varieties come from tropical humid regions and some varieties come from dry desert regions. The temperature, moisture, and air circulation all play a role in growing plants from seeds. Too little heat, too much moisture, and lack of air circulation will cause poor results. Do not use jiffy peat pots, plugs, or potting soil as the soil becomes too dry or too wet, which can lead to disease and fungus. We have experienced disease and low germination when using these types of products. Use Miracle Gro Seed Starting Material for best germination results. Plants can grow 1 to 7 ft tall.

Soil Requirements:

Requires fertile soil in a well drained location in the garden. Apply mulch, grass clippings, or straw around the base of the plant.

Water Requirements:

Water well with soaker hoses during dry and hot spells.

Fertilizer Requirements:

Use Slow Release (6 Month) Fertilizer when transplanting outdoors. Apply Miracle Gro Liquid Fertilizer every two weeks.

Harvest Tips:

Harvest hot peppers when fully mature using garden scissors, so you don't damage the plant. Pick peppers as they mature to encourage new buds to form.

We ordered these from your catalog last year and started them indoors in an aeroponic unit. We got several sturdy plants ready to go by the time they were ready to transplant outside. All plants gave high yields of peppers; very tasty! We have several jars preserved ( and going fast!) and look forward to doing this pepper again.
